What are the types of mechanical gears and what are their advantages?

For mechanical gears, I believe everyone is familiar! Even people who are not in the machinery industry know a little about it, because it is widely used. Mechanical gears can be seen in construction, steel, petrochemical, medicine, railway, light industry, food and other industries.

As a mechanical transmission part, small gears play a great role. Of course, different types of mechanical gears play different roles in application. Today, let me introduce in detail what types of mechanical gears are and what are their advantages?

1. Spur gear

Spur gear means that the teeth of the gear move in the direction of the axis of rotation. Straight gear is easy to process, and is one of the simplest and most commonly used types of mechanical gears. It is also divided into straight cylindrical gear and straight bevel gear. The advantage of spur gear is that in meshing, three teeth mesh with each other at the same time, and the meshing is intermittent, so the transmission is relatively stable. At the same time, the spur gear has large force and impact capacity, which can realize various transmission ratios and is suitable for large gear operation.

2. Helical gear

In mechanical gears, helical gears are often used in high-speed and heavy-load situations. The helical gear has good meshing performance and smooth transmission. The feature of large coincidence improves the bearing capacity of the gear, and also extends the service life. In addition, helical gear has compact structure, large transmission power, high efficiency and less noise compared with spur gear

3. Internal gear

Internal gear, as the name suggests, is a mechanical gear with teeth on the internal circle. The base of the internal gear is thicker than that of other mechanical gears, so it helps to make the teeth stronger, provide a compact parallel shaft, and greatly reduce the noise. The internal gear is specially designed to accommodate all kinds of equipment and reduce the sliding action to ensure the stability of operation.

4. Herringbone gear

The herringbone gear combines the two advantages of the non-axial force of the spur gear and the high load capacity of the helical gear. Because of the mutual arrangement of the helical lines, each side will generate opposite axial force, which will offset each other. This prevents the axial thrust that must be absorbed by the bearing. At the same time, the tooth length of the human capital gear is longer, which can transmit high torque.

5. Spiral bevel gear

The teeth of the spiral bevel gear are distributed on the surface of the cone, which looks like an umbrella as a whole. Among all mechanical gears, spiral bevel gear has the highest transmission efficiency, compact structure, strong bearing capacity, stable transmission ratio, and high economic benefits for high-power transmission.
